Make sure you are communicating over ports 2136, 2184, 2200, or 2245 through TCP/IP. Your Internet connection must be visible to those over the net. One way to test this is to have your partner Ping you. Give your partner the following steps.
- Go to your Start menu and click Run. Delete anything that might be in the Run window.
- Type the word "Command" (don't put C:\Command; just "command"). An MS-DOS prompt will appear.
- Type the word "ping" followed by a space and your IP address (e.g. ping 192.000.000.000).
It will send 4 packets out to your connection. If the packets are lost, that means that your partner was unable to connect to your IP address. Talk to your system administrator or contact the vendor of your firewall to enable a connection over the Internet.
MAC USERS NOTICE: iPartner was disabled for Mac Screenwriter 6.0 because of incompatibilities introduced by Apple in a MacOS upgrade. However, iPartner was modified and re-enabled in Mac Screenwriter 6.5.
