- install Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 (v4) on the computer.
- fixed some critical, non-critical and comestic issues and made some enhancements (see change log below).
Installation Instructions
Windows Vista or 7
- Click the Download button on this page.
- Once you click on the link, you will be brought to the Write Brothers WeTransfer.com download page. Click on the DOWNLOAD button to begin the download (MovieMagicScreenwriter2000.exe.zip).
- The file is large and can take a while to download. You can check the progress by using your browser's download status option.
- Once the download is done, you can find the MovieMagicScreenwriter2000.exe.zip file in your Downloads folder (or wherever you downloaded the file).

- Open the Downloads folder using the Finder.
- Double-click on the MovieMagicScreenwriter2000.exe.zip file to un-compress the file.

- Right-click on the installer -- MovieMagicScreenwriter2000.exe -- and choose Run As Administrator. This ensures Screenwriter 2000 (v4.5) has the proper Windows read and write permissions.
- Follow the on-screen steps to install the program.
- Close the ReadMe notepad file.
- If you are prompted to validate online, click Abort.
- Right click the Movie Magic Screenwriter shortcut icon on the desktop and choose Properties. Do not click Run as Admin here.
- Click on the Compatibility tab.
- In the "Privilege Level" section, check the box labeled Run this program as an Administrator.**
- Click OK.
- Double click the shortcut icon. You will be asked to validate the program online OR insert the CD to run the program.
Windows XP
- Click the Download button on this page.
- If prompted to Run/Open or Save, choose Run.* After the program has downloaded, the installation will automatically begin.
- Follow the on-screen steps to install the program.
- Double click the shortcut icon. You will be asked to validate the program online OR insert the CD to run the program.
*You may wish to choose Save if you want to have the installer somewhere on your hard drive for safe keeping. If using Firefox, click Save File and then double-click the file manually after it is done downloading.
**If Run this program as an administrator is grayed out (unavailable), close that window; no further action is necessary.

Critical Fixes
- Program freezes when trying to validate
- Program crashes with Eaccess Exception error when launching.
- EACCESS EXCEPTION when importing a Dramatica file that contains a large amount of information per scene.
- Spellcheck Error: Process failed - C:\Moviem~1\User_us.lxa.
- Randomly, a string of garbage code will replace a random element when printing.
- A component named <component>Dlg already exists.
- Script file comes up blank after crash.
- When overriding a page's color in a locked script, Screenwriter places 'FooterLineEdit' on the footer of every page.
- When editing a production script the script page shows incorrect revision color in the header.
- Editing the Header in a Production script places "Footer Line Edit" in the footer and changes the pagination or lines per page, so that numerous a-pages are created.
- Pasting text into a Character Name element (Ctrl+Alt+V) will paste garbage characters.
- McAfee VirusScan Online update causes slowness and Fatal Exceptions with Screenwriter.
- Screenwriter allows you to save over a different file that is already open.
- Printing a Script Analysis to a printscript file triggers a crash.
- When trying to Edit a pronunciation the program gives you a Floating Point error message.
- Randomly, a string of garbage code will replace a random element when printing.
- User dictionaries are occasionally being corrupted.
- When sending a file to another user via iPartner the user receiving the file gets a message that the file not pass integrity check.
- Screenwriter overwrites file with another file's contents.
- Continual loss of validation credits causing the user to need to validate repeatedly.
Non-Critical Fixes
- The Help > Web Resources Menu launches the URLs twice.
- When TV templates are not installed the program asks to insert the CD in the downloadable version.
- Cursor shows in wrong area when typing after changing display font.
- When a greyed out name is displayed but the letters typed in matches two names, hitting Enter will not insert the greyed out name.
- Stage Play format is saved with incorrect margins when doing a Save As to RTF.
- Header prints in Courier when the script is set to a font other than Courier, and the header is set to that same other font.
- When changing the header/footer font size, the font size of the footer does not change from 12pt to the newly selected font size.
- Production > StoryBoard Linking > Hide All Link Brackets does nothing.
- Right Clicking on Page Up and Page Down Scroll gadgets does nothing.
- Voice chat in iPartner was broken.
Cosmetic Fixes
- When exporting script notes report to a PDF file, it brings up the Save As box twice.
- Title bar of Header/Footer Setup window is incorrectly titled "Header Setup."
- Typo on File > Program Options > Spelling window (Substitution Text).
- Going into the Edit Categories window will enable tagging mode.
- "Setup Draft Information" dialog displays incorrect title.
- If the last page in the script is an A-page, the "A" on the page number shows up as a blank space.
- Ruler sliders only work correctly when document window is maximized.
- Need to add window title to the Search dialog window.
- Need to add window title to the Search & Replace dialog window.
- Discrepancy in title bar of Setup Font for Menus window.
- Discrepancy in the title bar for the Set Column Margins window.
- Discrepancy in title bar of Check Homonyms window.
- In Program Options, the Printer and Revision sections have the vertical scrollbar scrolled to the bottom instead of the top.
- Scrollbars have wrong background color in MS Word display mode.
- Right-click context menu's can show at the wrong screen location.
- Main window isn't restored properly after exiting the program options utility.
- Pop-up menus appears outside the Screenwriter Window.
- Location list appears outside the main window's boundaries.
- Shot list appears outside the main window's boundaries.
- Scene Type popups appearing in wrong location when application isn't maximized.
Enhancements
- Program has been optimized to open and close quicker.
- File dialog boxes now use the Default Places buttons (My Documents, Desktop, etc.).
- Title Bars now support Windows XP styles.
