Screenwriter may not be able to connect to the validation server if you are behind a firewall, if you use AOL, or if you connect through a corporate firewall/proxy server.
If you are using a computer with Windows XP with Service Pack 2: The Windows Firewall may be turned on.
- Click Start > Control Panel > Security Center > Firewall and turn off the Windows XP Firewall before validating Screenwriter.
If you are using a computer with a third party firewall (such as Norton Internet Security, McAfee Personal Firewall, Zone Alarm, Black Ice, etc.):
- Please try disabling it temporarily before validating Screenwriter. For assistance on turning off your third party firewall, please refer to the documentation that came with that firewall program.
If you are using AOL to connect to the Internet:
- Please make sure you are not just connected to AOL's main menu, as this is not the same as being on the Internet. Once you are connected to AOL's main menu, open Internet Explorer (or other browser) to any website, and then try validating Screenwriter again.
If you are behind a corporate firewall/proxy (such as in a major studio):
- Please contact Technical Support, so that we may manually validate the program via e-mail (or over the phone), while you are in front of the computer.
