FOR MOVIE MAGIC SCREENWRITER 6+
To format your characters' dialogue so it appears they are speaking simultaneously, do the following.
- Place your cursor in the first character's name.
- Hit Ctrl + L on the keyboard, or go to Format > Dual Columns > Left Column.
- Place your cursor in the next character's name.
- Hit Ctrl + R on the keyboard, or go to Format > Dual Columns > Right Column.
The blocks of dialogue will appear staggered on the screen, but will print and preview side-by-side. To return the dialogue back to normal use CTRL+F, or go to Format > Dual Columns > Normal (Full Width).

- Place your cursor in the next character's name.
- Hit Ctrl + 2 on the keyboard (or go to Format > Change Element Type > Right Column)
The blocks of dialogue will appear staggered on the screen, but will print and preview side-by-side. To return the dialogue back to normal use CTRL+0.
