The best way to put your file onto an external drive is to use the File>Save A Copy menu command.
- Connect the external drive to your computer, if not already connected.
- Click File > Save a Copy.
- Navigate to the external drive.
- OPTIONAL: Give your file a slightly different name to avoid future document conflicts.
- Click on Save.
You can also use this method to backup your files to other removeable drives, such as thumb drives, which should show up as an option as well.
NOTE: Leaving files open while editing them on one computer and then accessing them from another cloud device can damage the file and make it unreadable. For that reason, we recommend against saving your documents to a cloud drive while working on the document. Another reason is that Screenwriter has difficulty writing temporary files to a cloud drives, which can fail during saves and potentially prevent saving document changes.
