Most likely this is due to not having a default browser set. Please follow the steps below for whichever browser you use.
INTERNET EXPLORER 7
- Open Internet Explorer 7.
- Click on Tools > Internet Options.
- Select the Programs tab.
- Under the "Default Web Browser" section, click Make Default (see screenshot below).
- Click OK.
- Try activating Screenwriter 6 again.
INTERNET EXPLORER 6
- Open up Internet Explorer.
- Click on Tools > Internet Options.
- Select the Programs tab.
- Check the box labeled "Internet Explorer should check whether it is the default browser" (see screenshot below).
- Click OK.
- Close the Internet Explorer browser completely.
- Open up Internet Explorer again.
- Click on Yes when prompted to make Internet Explorer your default browser.
- Try activating Screenwriter 6 again.
FIREFOX 2 / NETSCAPE 9
- Open Firefox or Netscape.
- Click on Tools > Options.
- Click on the Main section.
- Click on Check Now button under System Defaults (see screenshot below).
- Click on Yes to set the browser as your default.
- Try activating Screenwriter 6 again.
*AOL
- Open AOL and log in.
- On the top row, click on the Settings button (icon looks like a box with a check mark in it). This should open the AOL settings window Index (see screenshot below).
- Click on "AOL as Default" (see screenshot below).
- Click OK.
- Try activating again.
*These steps are for AOL version 9.1. Other version may be slightly different.
OPERA 9.5
- Open up Opera.
- Click on Tools > Preferences.
- Click on the Advanced tab.
- In the list on the left, click on Programs.
- Check the box labeled "Check if Opera is default browser on startup" (see screenshot below).
- Click OK.
- Close the Opera browser completely.
- Open up Opera again.
- Click on Yes when prompted to make Opera your default browser.
- Try activating Screenwriter 6 again.
