This is a known issue in Screenwriter 2000 (4.x) that can occur when the system is set to use large fonts (120dpi).
The only work-around is to change to Normal fonts, using the steps below:
- First make sure Screenwriter is closed.
- Open the Display properties for windows under Start > Control Panel > Display.
- Click the Settings tab.
- Click the Advanced button.
- On the General tab, in the Diplay section, set the DPI for fonts to 96dpi (Normal).
- Click OK.
- Restart the computer.
- Open Screenwriter.
The menus should be readable now.
This issue has been fixed in Screenwriter 6.
