RECOMMENDATION: DOWNLOAD LATEST UPDATE
You may get this error during the installation of the 6.0.3. The reason you are getting this error is that the update installer is trying to remove an older file and is unable to do so.
To manually remove the file in Windows Vista:
- Exit out of Screenwriter if it is running.
- Click on Start > Computer.
- Open the C: drive.
- Open the Users folder.
- Open the folder that is labeled with your username/login.
- Open the AppData folder.
NOTE: if you don't see the AppData folder, make sure your computer is set to show hidden files and folders. Click Organize, and then click Folder and Search Options. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the View tab, and then under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders. - Open the Local folder.
- Open the Movie Magic Screenwriter folder.
- Right click on Layout.ini and click Delete.
- Try installing the 6.0.3 update again.
To manually remove the file in Windows 2000 or XP:
- Exit out of Screenwriter if it is running.
- Click on Start > My Computer.
- Open up Local Disk (C:).
- Open up Documents and Settings.
- Open up the folder with your username/login.
- Open the Local Settings folder.
NOTE: if you don't see the Local Settings folder, make sure your computer is set to show hidden files and folders. Click Tools, and then click Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialog box, click the View tab, and then under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders. - Open the Application Data folder.
- Open the Movie Magic Screenwriter folder.
- Right click on Layout.ini and click Delete.
- Try installing the 6.0.3 update again.
