If the settings file for the program gets damaged, it can cause issues in the program. Renaming (or deleting) that file will cause the program to rebuild the file from scratch using the default settings. This may correct the issue you are experiencing.
Note: renaming or deleting the settings file will reset any global program options under Tools > Options. It will not change any document settings.
Window Vista
- Close Screenwriter.
- Click on Start > Search.
- Open up the Advanced Search menu located just under the Search bar in the upper-right corner.
- Set the Location to "Local Hard Drives".
- Place a check in the box labeled "Search non-indexed, system and hidden files (may be slow)".
- In the Search bar in the upper-right type "Scwriter.ini".
- It should find a file called Scwriter, located in folder C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Movie Magic Screenwriter.
- Right click on the file and choose Rename.
- For the new name, type "Old Scwriter" and press ENTER to accept the name.
Try relaunching Screenwriter to see if that solves the problem.
Windows 2000 & XP
- Close Screenwriter.
- Click Start > Search.
- On the left, choose “All files and folders”.
- For the file name, type Scwriter.ini.
- For the "Look In:" pulldown menu, make sure it is searching in the Local Hard Drives.
- Click on Search.
- It should find a file called Scwriter, located in folder C:\Documents and Settings\(your username)\Local\Application Data\Movie Magic Screenwiter.
- Right click on the file and choose Rename.
- Type in the name of "Old Scwriter" and press ENTER to accept the name.
Try relaunching Screenwriter to see if that solves the problem.
