Adding a Blank Page before Page 1 of your Screenplay

There are occasions where want to insert a page (or two) between the Title Page and page one of your script.  This might be to add a character list, a quote, or whatever you want.  This is commonly done in stage plays (see Adding a Character List to your stage play document), but not as often in screenplays.

Here are the steps to add a page before page one of the screenplay:

1. Go to the beginning of the script.
2. Hit Enter to create a blank line.
3. Select the Edit>Add Forced Page Break menu command to insert a forced page break.
4. Hit the up arrow until you are on the blank line on the blank page.
5. Since I don't know exactly what you want to do and the previous directions do not work for you...
6. Select the Format>Normal Word Processor Mode menu command.  This will let you type whatever you want however you want because you have effectively turned Screenwriter's auto-formatting off.  Write whatever you want but understand that you'll have to hit return at the end of lines if you want to move to the next line.  You may use TABS to move to the right like you would on a regular word processor.
7. Once you have added your page one material, select the Format>Normal Word Processor Mode menu command again to turn on formatting (from that point forward).
8. Select the Format>Element Styles menu command.
9. Click on the Page Breaks tab.
10. Change the Starting Page Number from 1 to 0 (zero).  This will leave a page number of the first page (page 0), the first script page (page 1), and begin putting regular page numbers on the next page (page 2).
11. Press OK to apply the changes.
