If you run into problems running, opening, or saving documents in Mac Screenwriter 6.7 and giving permissions to Screenwriter 6.7 did not resolve the problem, you may need to remove the permissions before reinstalling and granting Screenwriter the proper permissions to operate on your computer.
MANUAL APPROACH for SEQUOIA, SONOMA, and VENTURA
You may remove Screenwriter permissions by doing the following.
- Quit out of Screenwriter if it is running
- Launch the System Preferences utility by clicking on the Apple menu located in the top left corner of the screen and select the System Preferences... menu option
- Open the Privacy & Security Preferences pane
- Scroll the list on the left until you see the Full Disk Access options
- Click on Full Disk Access in the right column
- Click on Screenwriter in the list of apps
- Click on the "-" (minus) icon at the bottom of the list to remove Screenwriter
- Apple opens a window for you to allow you to delete Screenwriter from the list
- Enter your Password -- this is the password you use to unlock your computer
- Screenwriter is removed from the Full Disk Access list
- Click on Privacy & Security listed in the left column
- Scroll the list on the left until you see the Files & Folders options
- Click on Files & Folders in the right column
- Click on Screenwriter in the list of apps
- Click on the "-" (minus) icon at the bottom of the list to remove Screenwriter
- Click on Screenwriter in the list of apps
- Screenwriter is removed from the Full Disk Access list
- Use the File > Quit menu command to exit the System Preferences app
- Screenwriter should no longer have any permissions now
MANUAL APPROACH for MONTEREY
Alternatively, you can manually grant Screenwriter to have "Full Disk Access" by doing the following.
- Quit out of Screenwriter if it is running
- Launch the System Preferences utility by clicking on the Apple menu located in the top left corner of the screen and select the System Preferences... menu option
- Open the Security & Privacy Preferences pane
- Select the Privacy tab
- Scroll the list on the left until you see the Full Disk Access and Files and Folders options
- Click Full Disk Access in the left column
- Click the 🔒 lock icon:
- Enter your Password and select Unlock
- Scroll the list on the right to look for the Screenwriter app
- Click the '-' (minus icon) button
- Navigate to the Applications > Screenwriter 6.7 folder and select Screenwriter:
- You should find yourself in the Applications folder
- Find and double-click the Screenwriter 6.7 Folder in the list of applications to open the folder
- Select the Screenwriter app
- Click the '-' (minus icon) button to remove it
- Click on the Files and Folders option
- Scroll through the list of apps on the right to find Screenwriter
- Select the Screenwriter app
- Click the '-' (minus icon) button to remove it
- Scroll through the list of apps on the right to find Screenwriter
- We recommend that you re-lock the preferences by clicking on the lock icon and close the Systems Preferences window
- Screenwriter should have full permissions now
MANUAL APPROACH for Big Sur and Catalina
Alternatively, you can manually grant Screenwriter to have "Full Disk Access" by doing the following.
- Open the Security & Privacy Preferences pane
- Select the Privacy tab
- Click Full Disk Access in the left column
- Click the 🔒 lock icon:
- Enter your Password and select Unlock
- Navigate to the Applications > Screenwriter 6.7 folder and select Screenwriter:
- Select Applications
- Find and click the Screenwriter 6.7 Folder in the list of applications
- Click the '-' (minus icon) button to remove it
- Use the File>Quit menu command to close the System Settings app
