Windows Screenwriter 6 problems with OneDrive

Windows Screenwriter 6 does not work well with OneDrive or other cloud drives.  The problem is that Windows can default to moving your Screenwriter .MMSW document files -- as well as .TMB and .BK backup files -- to the cloud instead of working with them locally on your hard drive.

We suggest you do the following to avoid some problems with using Screenwriter and OneDrive.

FIRST:  We recommend that you check to see if your documents are stored automatically on the Windows OneDrive.  If they are, we suggest that you disable it from OneDrive's backup/hosting.

How do I disable OneDrive for a specific folder?

Make sure the "Files-On-Demand" checkbox is UN-checked.

1. Help & Settings > Preferences.
2. Select the Account tab, and select Choose folders.
3. In the Sync files from your OneDrive dialog box, uncheck any folders you don't want to sync to your computer -- this would be the folder where your script documents are located/saved on your local hard drive, which is ususally the ..\Documents\Movie Magic Screenwriter folder
4. Select OK.

SECOND:  Make the following changes while in Screenwriter

1. Use the Tools>Options menu command
2. Click on the Startup/Files tab
3. Change the "Place previous versions files in" option to the first option, 'A subfolder named, "Previous Versions" '
4. Set the "Retain up to" previous versions option to "99" to make sure you keep as many earlier versions a you can
5. Set the "When Screenwriter starts, it should" option to "Leave you in a Blank Document"
6. Press the OK button to apply the changes and close the Options window
