This is a Microsoft Windows 98 incompatibility that Microsoft plans to correct in the future. However, there are simple ways to correct the problem.
Microsoft has made many system files dependent on each other. One system file (MFC70.dll) that many programs use (including Word Menu), is dependent on another system file called OLEACC.dll. If OLEACC.dll is not on your machine, you will get the message that MFC70.dll is missing.
OLEACC.dll is part of the Accessibility options for Windows. If you removed this option (or never installed it), then simply turning the option back on will make this problem go away.
Note: please make sure you have your Windows CD-ROM handy before proceeding!
- Select Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Windows Setup.
- You will see “accessibility” as an option, which will probably be unchecked.
- Check the Accessibility option, and then press NEXT.
- Windows 98 will proceed to add these features back into your system.
